Weird or Amazing!? You decide!

We all agree that fashion is art, right? So there's no denying that it's totally open to interpretation. As much as I adore Dior, Gaultier, Lacroix, Prada, and other designers, I can be completely confounded by their artistic visions. Is it amazing? Or is it weird? Case in point: Alexander Wang's handbag and Marc Jacobs' platforms. Are they WEIRD or AMAZING?! Here's my rationale for both sides:

Sitch #1: This handbag-turned-vest from Alexander Wang's Fall 09 collection.
Why it's amazing: Handbags have long been considered an accessory, but here, Alexander Wang boldly makes the handbag an item of clothing that looks increds on (especially from the back, it has a military-like, menswear look I totally dig). The soft glove leather makes it form to your body and the washed-effect makes it look like you've owned it forever.
Why it's weird: From a utilitarian perspective, this bag holds little despite having 10 pockets and would look very strange weighted with anything in it. Especially for the size, I can't imagine it looking good packed with the stuff I need to carry around day to day. It also kinda looks like a police gun holster which is a bit too aggressive.

Sitch #2: Marc Jacobs rubber soled platforms from his Fall 2009 collection.
Why they're amazing: Marc made his mark on the industry by being cutting edge with modern, wearable art. These avant garde retro platforms are so unique and versatile, bringing a girl easily from a hot 90's grunge-inspired day look to a hip zoot-suiting evening ensemble.
Why they're weird: That heel with that platform toe? Nuff said.

So what's your take? Weird? Or amazing?
