It was a scene right out of Gossip Girl: Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman raced by me being dragged by actress Kerry Washington across the dance floor on their way to the VIP section. So this is what it's like at a Manhattan Masquerade Ball! Sure, I've been to deb balls, but a real masquerade ball? I died when I got invited! And at this posh charity benefit for Music Unites at the Lincoln Center, I went all out!
So what would you wear to a masquerade ball? The options are so limitless! It's not a prom dress -- it's more magical than that. It's not just plain old black tie - it's gotta be more imaginative. So, I chose a dramatic strapless purple satin dress with black lace overlay and beautiful ostrich feathers at the hem and bust line from Rafael Cennamo (Kim Kardashian is a huge fan! And remember Carrie Underwood's gorg red dress from the ACM's? Uh-huh, Rafael!). Think I chose well?
For makeup, I consulted Reagan at MAC Cosmetics (that's him up top!). He layered on shimmery silvers and charcoal grey's to my eyes, and expertly lined them with waterproof liner without letting me shed one single tear (my eyes always water with liner!). Some powder and Mystic red lips later, and I was set for my night at the ball. The only thing missing?
My prince charming...But I think Rafael and Reagan more than made up for it!
