Backstage @ G Star!

In a collection that bridged the gap between the beginnings of aviation to futuristic space travel, G-Star Raw was over the moon. The show attracted celebs like Mischa Barton, Zoe Saldana, Rufus Wainwright, Danielle Panabaker and Natasha Beddingfield (both shown below!) and I even got to meet McKey, winner of the last round of America's Next Top Model. Doesn't she look amazing on the runway?

AlloyGirl was granted five minutes to soak up the craziness backstage and I was immediately entranced by the modern 50's look that greeted me.

The hard painted brow, solid gold lid, and brownish painted pout were strong and had a boyish look that made me wonder if the Amelia Earhart served as inspiration.

I'm still not quite sure how helmet-meets-head-phone hats would be useful in a non-apocalyptic world, but I'm sure the Dutch design team believes we all need to gear up for an impending battle of chicness. The military-influences in the collection were too strong to ignore, but happily contrasted with cheery denim pinafores and drop-crotch skinnies. These designs have def gone where no man (or woman!) has gone before. Think you'll go there too?
